Woman arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit after two-car crash in Ashington
A woman was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs after a crash in Northumberland[1]. The two-car collision took place on Alexandra Road, in Ashington[2], at around 5.25pm on November 11. Northumbria Police[3] officers arrived in the area to help and spoke to the occupants of both vehicles. No-one is thought to have suffered any injuries but both cars were badly damaged.
Officers are now appealing for information and any dash cam footage of the collision to help with their inquiries. A spokesperson for Northumbria Police[4] said: "At around 5.25pm on November 11, police received a report that two cars had been involved in a collision on Alexandra Road. Officers attended the area to assist and spoke to the occupants of both vehicles and while no one was believed to have sustained any injuries, both vehicles were significantly damaged.
"A woman, aged 27, was arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drink or drugs and has since been released under investigation. An investigation into the collision was launched and enquiries remain ongoing. "Today, police have issued an appeal for information and are asking anyone who might have seen what happened, or have dash cam footage, to get in touch.
