A serious crash which left a woman fighting for her life in hospital, an arson probe and police raids are among the incidents probed this week. Emergency services raced to Eston[4] High Street on Wednesday after the two-vehicle smash. The incident involved a white Mercedes and a white Renault van. The woman driving the Mercedes suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’ and is being treated in hospital.

Emergency services attended the scene on Wednesday afternoon
A woman is fighting for her life in hospital after a two-vehicle smash which saw 999 crews flood the scene. Emergency services were called to Eston[6] High Street, at the junction with Birchington Avenue, following a crash on Wednesday.
The collision took place shortly after 3pm and involved a white Mercedes and a white Renault van. Cleveland Police has now confirmed the woman driving the Mercedes suffered ‘life-threatening injuries’ to her head and pelvis, and she was taken to James Cook University Hospital[7] in Middlesbrough. The driver of the Renault suffered minor injuries.

The alleged incident took place on Dundas Street, Stockton
A child, teenager and man have been charged with wounding with intent. Bailey Cooke, 18, Anthony Alan Walker, 39, and a 16-year-old boy – who cannot be named for legal reasons – appeared at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
The charges were made in connection with an alleged incident on Dundas Street, in Stockton, on Tuesday, November 14 where a male suffered injuries to his stomach, Cleveland Police say. The alleged victim is receiving treatment in hospital for his injuries which are not life threatening. The trio appeared at the Middlesbrough court on Wednesday.
Cooke, of Stockton, and Walker, of no fixed abode, made no pleas to the wounding with intent charges during the hearing. They will next appear at Teesside Crown Court on December 13. The two men were remanded into custody until they appear in the higher court.

Class A drugs, a large quantity of cash and two cars were seized in drugs raids on Teesside. Seven people were arrested from three properties in Hartlepool[9] on Wednesday. Cleveland Police[10] has released a video showing the moment officers smashed down a door during one of the drug warrants. Hartlepool Neighbourhood Police Team executed three drugs warrants on Baden Street in the town.
Two men, aged 45 and 43, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and possession of criminal property. One man, aged 22, and a woman, aged 31, were also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. A 31-year-old man and two women, aged 26 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
All were taken to police custody for questioning. Class A drugs, believed to be heroin and crack cocaine, a large quantity of cash, two cars and a knuckle duster were seized by officers, the force confirmed. Read the full story here[11].
Man, 38, taken to hospital with head injury after being ‘attacked’ by pair in Middlesbrough
Princes Road, Middlesbrough
A man was left with a head injury following an alleged attack by two other men[12] which saw CSI rush to the scene. Police and paramedics were called to Princes Road, in Middlesbrough[13], just before 3pm on Saturday, November 11. Teesside Live previously reported crime scene investigators attended the incident and a cordon was erected.
Police have since confirmed a man, 38, was allegedly attacked, a force spokesperson said: “Officers were called to Princes Street in Middlesbrough just before 3pm on Saturday to reports that two men had assaulted a 38-year-old man, causing him a head injury. They were reported to have left the scene before police arrived. “Officers took the man to James Cook University Hospital[14] to have his injury checked over.”

A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving following a crash in Hartlepool[16]. Officers were called to the traffic light junction of Raby Road, Hart Lane, and Middleton Road on Sunday after a Ford Transit van and a KTM 125 motorbike collided.
The 15-year-old biker rider was left unconscious with cuts and grazes to his head and his ankle and was taken to the University Hospital of North Tees[17], in Stockton[18], for treatment. His pillion passenger fled the scene – with the teen boy subsequently being arrested on suspicion of drug driving, theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and possession of a bladed article. Tragedy as woman dies in Darlington after police and paramedics called to residential street
Skeeby Road, in Darlingto
A woman has died following an incident in Darlington[21]. Police and paramedics were called to Skeeby Road[22] on Sunday following the death of a woman, aged in her 40s. Am examination was carried out at the scene, where Durham Constabulary officers established there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that two ambulance crews were sent[23] to a private address on the residential street, shortly after 10.30am on Sunday. The force added that a file is now being prepared for the coroner. Read the full story here[24].
Suspected BMW grill snatcher arrested by police and van seized on match-day plain-clothed patrols
A man was arrested as plain-clothed police officers patrolled Middlesbrough town centre area
A suspected BMW grill snatcher was arrested by police during plain-clothed matchday patrols in Middlesbrough. Officers were carrying out the patrols in the town centre on Saturday, November 11, when the Boro[25] squad took on Leicester City during a victorious home clash at the Riverside Stadium[26]. Proactive teams focused around the area of the ground during the match, paying particular attention to vehicle crime.
A man was stopped on Tower Green[27] as the match was ongoing, after being suspected of stealing grills from a BMW. A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of three counts of theft from a vehicle and handling stolen goods and was bailed whilst enquiries continue. A van was also seized after being suspected of being used in crime

Three further teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the “devastating” Wesley Chapel fire in Hartlepool[29]. Emergency services raced to the listed chapel on Tuesday last week[30] after a blaze broke out at the iconic building, just off Victoria Road and Swainson Street.
Images taken from across the evening showed flames rising above the former nightclub – with one video even capturing the moment part of the structure collapsed onto the street below. Cleveland Police[31] initially arrested three teenage boys, two aged 15 and one aged 16, on suspicion of arson and bailed them with conditions while enquiries continued. The force has now said that three 14-year-old teenage boys have been arrested in connection, and have also been questioned and released on bail.

Police swooped on a town centre on Remembrance Day and arrested a man. Cleveland Police officers attended an incident on Stockton High Street on Saturday morning and detained a suspect.
Pictures from the scene show two police vehicles in attendance as the man is detained by officers. The force confirmed the man will appear in court later this month. A spokesperson said: “On Saturday morning police received a report of an incident on Stockton High Street.
A 40-year-old man was arrested and later charged with a public order offence. “He was bailed to attend Teesside Magistrates’ Court later this month.” Read the full story here[33].
‘Tragic case’ as elderly woman dies following A19 ambulance crash and police investigation continues An elderly woman has died in hospital months after an A19[34] crash involving a car and an ambulance. An investigation is ongoing into the collision by Northumbria Police and a 20-year-old man, who is understood to be from the Teesside area, has been ‘spoken to by officers and is assisting with inquiries’.
Emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A19, near Houghton-le-Spring, on Friday, April 14. A red Seat and a North East Ambulance Service vehicle collided at around 8.55pm. The passenger in the ambulance, a woman in her 80s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Sadly despite the best efforts of medical professionals, the woman died months later on September 6. A police investigation is under way and the ambulance service has confirmed an internal review was also carried out. Read the full story here[35].
Man arrested after drugs raid in Eston
A man has been arrested
Officers assisted by police dog Harper arrested a man following a drugs raid in Eston. The warrant was executed at an address on Jubilee Road, Eston, on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 15. A quantity of Class A drugs, believed to be crack cocaine, was recovered from the address alongside drug paraphernalia.
A 62-year-old man was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and he is due to appear in court this morning.
