Woman in 70s injured after being hit by car in Newcastle

A woman aged in her 70s was injured after being struck by a vehicle in Newcastle. Northumbria Police[1] received a report at 12.25pm on Wednesday that a woman had been hit by an orange coloured Vauxhall Mokka while she was crossing Kingston Park Road, at the junction with Windsor Way. Emergency services arrived at the scene and the woman was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers say she suffered serious injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene to help officers with their enquiries. Now an appeal has been made for any witnesses to come forward.

A spokesperson from Northumbria Police said: “Emergency services attended and the woman, who is in her 70s, suffered serious injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening. She was taken to hospital for treatment where she remains. “The driver of the vehicle involved stayed at the scene to assist officers with their enquiries.

A section of the road was closed for several hours before being re-opened. “Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for witnesses to contact them. They are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who witnessed the collision and also motorists who were in the area at the time and have dashcam footage which could assist enquiries.
