Woman killed after cars and bus crash near Welshpool, Powys
Dyfed-Powys Police have confirmed that an 87-year-old woman has died after a crash near Middletown on Monday (November 27) involving two cars and a bus. According to Dyfed-Powys Police “the collision involved a blue Honda Civic and a white service bus, which were travelling towards the general direction of Shrewsbury, and a dark red Ford Fiesta which was travelling towards Welshpool”. The female driver of the fiesta suffered severe injuries and later passed away in hospital.
The driver of the other car was also hospitalised, while the driver of the bus was uninjured and thankfully wasn’t carrying passengers at the time. OTHER NEWS: Dyfed-Powys Police are now appealing for witnesses who may be able to help with their enquiries.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a three vehicle road traffic collision that occurred shortly after 7:30am on Monday 27th November on the A458 between Welshpool and Middletown, near to Bank Farm Caravan Park. “Tragically the 87 year old female driver and sole occupant of the Ford Fiesta sustained serious injuries and passed away in hospital later the same day. The driver of the Honda was taken to hospital.
The bus did not have any passengers and the driver was uninjured. “Anyone who witnessed the collision, or anyone who has information that could help the investigation, is asked to contact police.”
Dyfed-Powys Police added that they “are especially appealing for anyone with dashcam, ring door-bell or CCTV footage along the A483 between Newtown and Welshpool and also the A458 between Welshpool and Bank Farm that may have seen / captured the blue Honda Civic travelling between 7am and 7:30am to come forward”.
