Woman named after tragic death in crash on B1253 near Rudston

A woman who died in a collision on a rural road in East Yorkshire has been named by her family. Susan Whittles, who was 70, sadly died at the scene of the crash on the B1253 near Rudston[1] on Friday (November 24). She was driving one of the two cars involved in the collision.

Police were alerted at around 3pm after reports that a red Volkswagen T-ROC and a grey Audi A6 had crashed at the crossroad junction of High Street and Burton Road, near Rudston. Ms Whittles suffered fatal injuries. In a statement released today (Monday), Humberside Police said: “Emergency services were deployed; however, despite their efforts, the driver of the Volkswagen, Susan, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Susan’s family continue to be supported by specialist trained officers at this incredibly sad time.”

A man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and has since been released on conditional bail while inquiries continue.

The police added: “We continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the collision, or anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries, to contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 276 of 24 November.”
