Officers responding shortly after 1 p.m. learned one youth followed another youth and attacked them without provocation until bystanders intervened, police said. The victim sought medical attention. Article content
A suspect surrendered to police Wednesday morning, police said. A Chatham teen, 14, who can’t be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with assault. They were released with conditions and a future court date.
Crash leads Chatham-Kent police to woman for vehicle theft
A suspect in an October vehicle theft was arrested after a crash near the Chatham courthouse Wednesday, Chatham-Kent police say.
A woman tried to steal a motor vehicle from a Gosnell Line home in Howard Township about 10:30 p.m. on Oct.
27, but the car stalled, police said. Article content The woman fled before officers arrived, police.
A warrant was obtained for her arrest when she was not located. Officers called to a collision at Grand Avenue West and Courthouse Lane in Chatham at 3:16 p.m. Wednesday arrested a suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant, police said.
An Erieau woman, 18, is charged with theft of a motor vehicle and trespassing by night, police said. She also was ticketed for careless driving. The accused was released with conditions and a Jan.
15 court date, police said.
Man charged after apartment clash
A man was charged after a clash at a Chatham apartment complex, Chatham-Kent police Officers called to a unit at Trillium Village complex about 10 p.m. Wednesday learned a man sat on a woman and choked her until her roommate intervened, police said.
A Chatham man, 51, is charged with assault, police said.
He was released with conditions and a Dec.
18 court date.
