18-year-old man dies following north Belfast crash

An 18-year-old man has died of injuries sustained in a crash in north Belfast last week.

The collision involving a car and a motorcycle happened in the Antrim Road area on Friday December 22 at around 9.30pm.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment at the time, but has since sadly passed away.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and we would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam or other footage, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 1915 of 22/12/23.”

North Belfast Sinn Fein MP John Finucane said in a Facebook post his “thoughts are with the family & friends of the young man who sadly lost his life”.

He added: “This tragic accident has caused hurt for many in our community, and we must pull together to support and comfort those grieving.”
