70-year-old man fatally struck by vehicle on Southeast Side

SAN ANTONIO – A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle on the city’s Southeast Side. The deadly accident happened around 9 p.m. Friday near 10400 US Highway 181 South.

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the 70-year-old man was walking to a convenience store across Highway 181 South when a driver in a Ford Explorer traveling East on Highway 181 struck the man. Police say the driver stopped and immediately called 911. The driver of the Ford said she did not see the man and attempted to swerve but was unsuccessful, according to SAPD.

Police say they evaluated the driver for DWI and was not found to be under the influence.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

No criminal charges are pending, SAPD reported.
