A19 motorists left facing long rush-hour delays after accident leaves car overturned in bush

Motorists heading home on the A19 have faced long delays on Tuesday evening following an accident. The collision took place on the A19[1] Northbound shortly before the A139 turn off towards Norton[2] and Billingham[3]. Pictures on social media show a vehicle overturned in a bush on the side of the road, with a tanker also pictured at the scene.

Traffic update website Inrix reports: “Long delays and one lane closed due to accident on A19 Fleet Bridge Road Northbound from A1046 Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange) to A139 Billingham Road (Norton Interchange). Traffic is also slow in the opposite direction.” The AA website adds: “Severe delays of 21 minutes and delays increasing on A19 Fleet Bridge Road Northbound between A174 and A139 (Norton Interchange).

Average speed ten mph.” The site adds: “Severe delays of ten minutes and delays increasing on A19 Southbound between A689 Coal Lane ( Wolviston[4] ) and A1046 Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange). Average speed ten mph.”
