A2 closed coastbound near Canterbury after multi-vehicle crash at Bishopsbourne junction

A dual carriageway had to be closed for several hours following a multi-vehicle collision in the early hours. Police and fellow emergency service teams have been at the scene on the A2 near Canterbury since about 4.30am.

The road was closed in both directions initially but reopened on the Londonbound side about an hour later. The coastbound section was shut at the Bishopsbourne and Coldharbour Lane junction with police in attendance for about four hours.

It reopened shortly after 8.30am.

Traffic was being diverted around the junction via the slip roads to rejoin the A2.
