A338 crash: Woman airlifted to Southampton General Hospital
Emergency services rushed to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on the A338 near Charlton-All-Saints at around 12.30pm yesterday, December 21. Wiltshire Police has confirmed that a woman in her 70s was involved in the crash and was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
Two other people were taken to Salisbury District Hospital. The main road between Salisbury and Downton was closed for several hours while the scene was made safe. The South Western Ambulance Service sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer and two air ambulances.
A spokesperson for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We received a call at 12.35pm this afternoon about a road traffic collision on the A338 near Charlton-All-Saints. "Two crews from Salisbury attended the incident (one from Ringwood also attended but wasn't required) involving two vehicles. "Firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to free two casualties who were left in the care of our ambulance colleagues.
Our stop was in at 1.44pm and the incident handed over to police."
