The collision, which involved a motorcycle, happened at around 5.30am. All emergency services, led by Hampshire Police, at currently at the scene, along with National Highways officers, which are assisting with traffic management.

“Due to the nature of the incident the carriageway is expected to remain closed through the morning,” National Highways said.

Traffic caught within the closure is being turned via the rear of the queue and National Highways has asked that anyone caught within it to please wait for instructions from police or a traffic officer before trying to turn around.

A diversion is currently in place, but traffic is incredibly heavy in the area and motorists are being advised to delay journeys if possible or find an alternative route.
