Accident on M1: Live updates as multi-vehicle crash leads to standstill traffic

There is heavy traffic on the M1 in Derbyshire[1] this afternoon (Monday, December 18) due to a multi-vehicle collision. The section of the motorway affected is on the southbound side between Junction 30 at Balborough and Junction 29a at Duckmanton[2]. The news was confirmed by National Highways East Midlands at around 3.30pm on Monday.

The statement from National Highways said: “Traffic has been stopped on the M1 southbound in Derbyshire between junction 30 at Barlborough and junction 29a at Duckmanton. Traffic was allowed through via one lane by 4.10pm but the other three remained closed. “This is due to a multi-vehicle collision, one of which has come to rest on its roof.

All emergency services are in attendance.
