Act of revenge on Marcus Smith goes viral after he taunted rival

France star Thomas Ramos got away with an act of foul play on England fly-half Marcus Smith, but could potentially face punishment. Harlequins hosted French outfit Toulouse at Twickenham Stoop in the Champions Cup on Sunday evening, with the away side earning a convincing 19-47 win. A moment between Smith and Ramos has gone viral on social media, with almost 200,000 views on X, formerly known as Twitter. The clip shows Ramos appearing to drop a forearm down on Smith, before shoving his head into the ground. The French full-back then appeared to shove Smith in the face with an open hand. The England man looked infuriated as he tried to squirm away.

It followed an earlier incident between the pair. Harlequins’ Andre Estherhuizen got over for one of the first scores of the game, and the Springbok bowled over Ramos in the process, with Smith appearing to taunt him as the Quins centre scored. Watch the clip below.

Ramos was the top points-scorer during the 2023 Six Nations[5], as France finished second in the tournament.

The 28-year-old usually plies his trade at full-back, but has been filling in for the injured Romain Ntamack for Toulouse, with Scotland star Blair Kinghorn slotting in at 15.
