Appeal after car fails to stop at scene of fatal collision
Detectives are appealing for information and witnesses after a fatal road traffic collision in Chigwell. The driver of the car involved remains outstanding. Officers were called at 17:09hrs on Friday, 22 December to Manford Way, Chigwell.
A car, believed to be a white Seat Leon, had been in collision with a pedestrian who was walking with two dogs. Police officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance attended. Despite their efforts, a 48-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The two dogs were also killed in the collision. The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene, and the Seat Leon was located nearby shortly after the collision.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace the registered keeper of this vehicle. There has been no arrest at this stage. Anyone with information and any witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to call 101, ref CAD 5312/22dec.
