A fifth asylum seeker has been arrested just weeks after being freed from indefinite immigration detention.

Former Sudanese child soldier William Yekrop was nabbed by police in Queensland[2] on Thursday after officers connected him to an outstanding warrant.

It’s understood the warrant was in relation to allegedly breaching his parole conditions prior to being placed in immigration detention in 2012.

Yekrop was one of 148 detainee freed after the High Court ruled it was unlawful for the federal government to indefinitely detain non-citizens who had served their sentences and had no realistic prospect of deportation or resettlement.

It is understood he was originally released without any checks for any return to prison warrants standing against him.
