Biker airlifted to Royal Stoke as ‘serious collision’ shuts road

A biker was airlifted to the Royal Stoke after a 'serious collision' closed a road. Police[1], paramedics and firefighters[2] were called out to Miners Way, in Burntwood, to reports of a crash on the stretch. As reported by StokeonTrentLive[3] Saturday's incident saw the road closed off with police urging drivers to avoid the area as officers dealt with a 'serious collision'. Today West Midlands Ambulance Service[4] say they were called to the scene just before 3pm to reports of a collision between Fiat van, BMW and a Suzuki motorbike.

Among the resources sent to the scene was the air ambulance. A spokeswoman said: "We were called to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of Miners Way and the A5190 in Burntwood. Two ambulances, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered a car, a van and a motorbike had been involved in a collision.

"The motorcyclist, a man, was treated by ambulance staff for serious injuries before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment. Two women from the car were assessed by medics but neither required hospital treatment and so were discharged at the scene." Staffordshire Police say the biker remains in a 'stable condition.

A spokesman added: "A passenger in the van suffered minor injuries. Both drivers of the vehicles stayed at the scene and have been helping us with our enquiries." Anyone with information on the collision should call the force on 101 and quote incident 461 of December 16.
