Blantyre pensioner dies after being hit by truck outside Clydeview Shopping Centre

An elderly man has died after being hit by a lorry near a shopping centre in Blantyre. The 84-year-old man was on Glasgow Road near to Clydeview Shopping Centre around 5.55pm on Tuesday when he was involved in a crash with a white Isuzu Grafter Flatbed truck. The pensioner was rushed to hospital[1] and the road was closed for five hours while officers investigated the incident.

Police[4] have now confirmed that the man sadly died in hospital on Wednesday. They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward. Sergeant Gemma Blackadder said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died.

“Our enquiries into this collision are ongoing, and I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the crash to please contact us.
