Police have issued an amber alert for a two-year-old boy who was taken by a man and a woman, who are alleged to have assaulted the toddler’s grandmother as they abducted him.

Jax Kossen-Wilson was taken on Little Street, in Coffs Harbour on the NSW[2] north coast, just after 2pm on Friday.

The man and woman, who are known to Jax, bundled him into a black 1996 Volkswagen Golf sedan with Victorian registration OAH 707, police said.

The family member Jax was with was allegedly assaulted by the pair before the child was kidnapped.

Police say the couple and Jax could also be driving in a white van with the Victorian registration PJJ033.

They may be travelling around around Inverell and Tenterfield.

Jax is white and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

He is around 70cm tall.

The two-year-old boy was last seen wearing a coloured shirt and a pair of brown shorts.

Anyone with information should call triple-zero immediately.
