Bradford road traffic operation targets ‘Fatal 5’ offences

In a post on Facebook, a spokesperson for the Steerside Enforcement Team said: "Over the weekend officers from the Steerside Enforcement Team joined forces with West Yorkshire[1] Police - Bradford East in the Bradford Moor area on Operation Smokehill.

"The operation specifically targets the "Fatal 5" (the top five reasons why people die during road traffic collisions), those being excess speed, no seatbelt, mobile phone use, drink/drug drive and careless driving.

"Nineteen positive outcomes were handed out with around 70 per cent being fatal five offences, one car was seized, no license and no insurance and a Public Space Protection Order fine was issued for anti-social use of a VW Golf."
