A three-vehicle collision has closed the A96 Inverness to Aberdeen road in both directions. Police, fire and ambulance crews are at the accident scene at the B9101 junction, east of Auldearn. It is not yet known if anyone was injured in the accident.

The alert was raised at 4:46 pm this afternoon with Scottish Fire and Rescue mobilising three appliances, two of which remain at the crash scene. A fire service heavy rescue unit was also mobilised, but not required. Police are advising motorists to avoid the route, with heavy tailbacks reported on the route and in Auldearn itself, where traffic control measures are in action.
