BREAKING: Man dies after car found in ditch near M62

A man has died after a car was found in a ditch just off the M62[1]. Emergency crews were called to the A672 Oldham[2] Road, near Rishworth, at around 6.15am this morning (Sunday). A black Seat Leon was found in a ditch off the road, near junction 22 of the M62.

Tragically, a man ‘found nearby’ was pronounced dead at the scene. West Yorkshire Police said his family has been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The entry and exit slip roads onto the M62 remain shut at junction 22.[5] A stretch of the A672, between the motorway and Pike End Road, also remains closed.

Police said the closures are expected to remain in place for ‘some time’. Drivers are being urged to find alternative routes. Any witnesses, or anyone with information about the lead-up to the crash, is being urged to come forward.

West Yorkshire Police can be contacted by using Live Chat online or by calling 101, quoting log 385 of December 17.
