BREAKING NEWS Gunnedah crash: Horror smash kills three passengers in a single-vehicle accident on Kamilaroi Highway

A horror crash has killed three people on a country highway just days out from Christmas[2].

The single-vehicle crash happened near Curlewis, about 20km south of Gunnedah in north-west of NSW[3], around 6.30am on Wednesday.

The crash has shut down the Kamilaroi Highway between Curlewis and Gunnedah.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area and monitor www.livetraffic.com for updates.

Three back-seat passengers who died at the scene have yet to be formally identified.

The driver- a 24-year-old man- was not injured and has been taken to Tamworth Hospital for mandatory testing.

A female passenger in the front seat was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before she was airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.

Oxley Police District officers have established a crime scene and an investigation into the incident is underway along with the aid of the crash investigation unit.
