Brian Bevan Island traffic lights have been out since Tuesday

The signals have been out on Brian Bevan Island close to Bridge Foot since an accident on Saturday, causing long delays at peak times for motorists. Temporary lights have been installed at some of the junctions however the council says the issues should be fixed later today. A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “Unfortunately the traffic signal controller was damaged due to a road traffic accident (RTA) on Saturday on Brian Bevan roundabout.

“Our contractors have been working on site since.

“However, the incident has destroyed the controller and damaged multiple cables.

Our engineer will be installing a new controller today (Thursday).”
