Brunswick City School District employee arrested
BRUNSWICK, Ohio (WOIO) - The Brunswick Police Department arrested a city school district employee Friday morning.
Elyria Municipal Court records say Leann Alferio, 42, faces a charge of wiretapping, a fourth-degree felony.
According to Brunswick City School District Superintendent Jason Niedermeyer, Alferio is the district's coordinator of special education.
Niedermeyer confirmed the district immediately placed Alferio on administrative leave, and issued the following statement to 19 News:
"The Brunswick City School District learned this morning that one of our employees, Leann Alferio, Coordinator of Special Education, was arrested this morning. It is our understanding that the arrest was for an incident unrelated to school district business. Ms.
Alferio was immediately placed on administrative leave in order to provide the district with the time and space to understand what had occurred. The safety of our students and staff is our number one concern. This matter is independent of her professional responsibilities.
During the course of any police investigation unrelated to Brunswick City School District business, we will have no other comments."
