Burton Road in Carlton was closed after car in police chase crashed into hairdressers
A main road in Carlton[1] was closed after a car crashed into a hair salon. A 49-year-old man has been arrested after a Ford Focus[2] ploughed into the premises of Image Hair Fashions at 106 Burton Road at around 12.50am this morning (Friday December 15). The car was being pursued by police[3] at the time after they began following it in St Ann's[4] around half an hour before at 12.25am.
After the crash, the man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving when unfit through alcohol or drugs. Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service[5] as well as East Midlands Ambulance Service[6] were also called to the scene. The man was taken to hospital.
Chief Inspector Neil Humphris, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Colleagues at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue service and East Midland Ambulance Service were called to the scene and a man was safely removed from the vehicle and taken to hospital with injuries which are not currently believed to be life-altering or life-threatening. "A 49-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving and driving when unfit through alcohol or drugs." The road was closed but has since reopened.
Police remain at the scene on Friday as part of their investigations into the incident and to make the building safe.
