Car flips upside down in M8 crash as motorists warned ahead of horrible weather
A car flipped upside down following a “horrible” crash on the M8 this morning, Thursday December 21. Emergency services rushed to the busy motorway, near Bishopton, Renfrewshire, following the incident earlier today. There are no reports of any injuries in the crash.
Glasgow’s road policing[1] team have now warned motorists ahead of the grim weather forecasted across the region.
A spokesperson said: “We were called to this crash on the M8 near Bishopton this morning. Thankfully no one was injured.
“Please ensure that your tyres have plenty of tread especially in this horrible wet weather. Higher risk of aquaplaning.” Glasgow woke up to strong winds this morning and residents have been told to be prepared for more throughout the day as Storm Pia batters the country.
The Met Office has put a yellow warning in place for wind until 11.59pm this evening, covering the whole of the country.
Gusts of between 45mph to 60mph have been forecast.
