Car travelling at ‘excess speed’ ploughs through field

A car left a country road, ploughed through a field and was badly damaged after the driver lost control. Police shared pictures of the crash, near Driffield[1], in order to warn others about the dangers of excess speed. The car, which has a rear spoiler and popular decals, came to a stop after hitting a fence and a hedge.

Writing on Facebook, Humberside Police said: “This is a fine example of what excess speed and due care causes. On this occasion no one was hurt, but things could have been very different.” The statement added: “Please drive to the conditions.

One driver reported for offences.” Although police have not released an exact location for the crash, it appears to have happened on the B1249 just to the north of the town. The 60mph road goes through a series of bends in this area.

Local policing teams across the region have recently been using handheld devices to check speeds are concerns were raised in communities.

Last week, officers checked speeds at locations around Goole.
