Chatham Woman Charged in Fatal Collision on Victoria Road
A 32-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with careless driving, causing death following a tragic motor vehicle collision on Victoria Road. The incident occurred on June 17, 2023, at the intersection of Victoria Road and Gosnell Line near Ridgetown, prompting an immediate response from emergency personnel. The collision involved two vehicles, with the woman driving a car containing a 13-year-old passenger on Gosnell Line.
The crash occurred with another vehicle travelling northbound on Victoria Road. Unfortunately, the driver of the second vehicle, 60-year-old Barbara Bondy of Chatham, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A 60-year-old passenger in the second vehicle sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to London.
The 32-year-old woman and the 13-year-old passenger in the first vehicle both suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Chatham-Kent Health Alliance for medical attention. The 32-year-old Chatham woman has been charged with careless driving, causing death and two counts of reckless driving causing bodily harm. A summons has been issued for her to appear in court on January 30, 2024.
