Cheshire Police investigating as Winsford man dies after crash

The 27-year-old man died at the scene after a crash in Dunham-on-the-Hill, near Chester. It is understood he had been driving a blue Volkswagen Golf along the B5152 at around 5pm on Friday (December 8) when he collided with a tree. Firefighters pulled the man from the vehicle before paramedics administered treatment.

Despite the best efforts of all involved, the driver, who has not been formally, identified was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Now, Cheshire Police are urging any witnesses to come forward.

Sergeant Andrew Dennison, of the Serious and Complex Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a serious collision in which a young man has sadly lost his life and our thoughts are with his friends and family at this difficult time. “As part of our enquiries we’re keen to hear from who witnessed what happened or has any information to aid our investigation. The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage of the incident.

“I’m particularly keen to hear from a driver who initially stopped at the scene following the collision, bur left prior to the arrival of emergency services.

The driver was seen leaving in the direction of the A56, Chester Road.”
