Chigwell hit and run as woman and two dogs killed and police search for Seat Leon driver
A 48-year-old woman and two dogs were killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Essex, with police appealing for information as the driver of the car is yet to be identified

A woman and two dogs have been killed in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Chigwell, Essex[1]. The 48-year-old woman was out walking with two dogs[2] when she was hit by a car, which is believed to be a white Seat Leon. Emergency services[3] were called at 5.09pm on Friday December 22 but sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
Metropolitan Police said the woman’s family have been informed, and are currently being supported by specialist officers. The two dogs were also killed in the crash.
The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene, with the Seat Leon found nearby shortly after the collision. So far no arrests have been made and inquiries are ongoing to trace the registered keeper of the vehicle, according to the force. Anyone with information and any witnesses yet to speak to police are asked to call 101 and quote ref CAD 5312/22dec.
