Child, 11, arrested after drunk and disorderly incident in Devon town centre

An 11-year old child has been arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly following an incident at a Paignton[1] shop. Police were called to the store shortly before 4pm on Friday (December 8) to reports of a group of kids causing damage and being abusive towards staff. The group then moved to the town centre where they continued to cause chaos.

Police put a dispersal order in place before the group were moved from the area. A young child was arrested at the scene. A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “An 11-year-old boy from Paignton was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

He was later released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.” Torbay[2] Custody Sergeant Tim Perrin took to social media to share his disbelief over the incident. In a statement on X – formerly Twitter – he said: “What is going on?

11 yr old on route to custody drunk and disorderly.”
