Coedely road closed after bus and car crash

There have been fatalities following a serious crash involving a car and bus, according to the ambulance service. Following the collision on Elwyn Street in Coedely, Rhondda Cynon Taf, at about 19:00 GMT on Monday, the road is likely to be closed until Tuesday. The Welsh Ambulance Service said it sent 18 resources including seven ambulances and three doctors.

A spokesman said that he could confirm there had been fatalities, but could not give further details. He added that the incident involved a bus and a car, and that they believed a motorbike was also involved. South Wales Police said the road would be closed "for some time" and drivers should find an alternative route.

Traffic was also building up on the A4119 which leads to the M4 at Miskin, the force added.

Alex Davies-Jones, MP for Pontypridd, said on Facebook the closure would likely be in place until Tuesday morning.

"Thank you for your patience while emergency services close the road to attend the scene," she said.
