Coroner reverses ruling, now plans autopsy after fatal motorcycle crash

The York County coroner on Sunday identified a 25-year-old motorcyclist killed on Friday after colliding with a sport utility vehicle.

Miguel Perez, of York, collided with the SUV in the area of N. West Street and Madison Avenue, about two miles from his home.

The crash occurred at 5:52 p.m. Perez died at the scene, the coroner said.

The coroner on Saturday[1] said Perez appeared to fail to stop at a stop sign, and that no autopsy was planned.

She ruled the death from blunt force injuries and the manner of death as accidental.

On Sunday, however, the coroner’s press release[2] said the exact circumstances of the crash are still being investigated by police and that an autopsy was now planned for Tuesday. She listed the cause and manner of death as “pending autopsy.”

Madison Avenue is a one-way street that intersects with N. West Street.

Drivers on both streets have stop signs at the intersection.

The coroner’s office did not know if anyone from the SUV was injured in the crash.

York city police have not released any information about the fatal crash.
