Cottenham crash that shut road leaves two people seriously injured

Two people were seriously injured in a crash that shut a Cambridgeshire[1] village road. Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to Histon Road near the junction with Cossington Close, Cottenham, shortly before 5pm on Thursday (December 28). The pair were taken to Cambridge’s Addenbrooke’s Hospital following the crash, which involved two vehicles.

No arrests have been made following the incident. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: “We were called at 4.48pm yesterday (28 December) with reports of a collision between two cars on Histon Road, Cottenham. Emergency services attended and two people were taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital with serious injuries.

No arrests made and the road has reopened.”

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 5.06pm on Thursday (28) crews from Cambridge and Cottenham were called to a road traffic collision on Cossington Close in Cottenham. Firefighters worked alongside ambulance colleagues to care for two casualties who were taken to hospital.

The crews returned to their stations by 6.40pm.”
