Article content The Dubai-based economist was allegedly battered to death by her husband of four months, Shahnawaz Amir, the scion of a famed Pakistani journalistic dynasty. Inaam, 37, was murdered in September 2022 in Islamabad.

Article content The slaying, now before the courts in Islamabad, Pakistan, was the result of a suspected family dispute, local police alleged. "For her to be brutally killed like this is unbelievable," her friend, Syeda, told CBC in 2022. "She wasn't the type of person to get into fights or anything.

Really, she wouldn't hurt a fly. To hear that she was beaten to death is painful and unbelievable."

Article content A pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries after a BMW slammed into them late Saturday around 8:45 p.m. Police said the incident happened around Epsom Downs Dr. and William Cragg Dr. -- in the Wilson Ave.-Jane St. area -- when an eastbound black BMW sedan hit a pedestrian.

A pedestrian walking in the eastbound lanes of Hwy.

401 was struck and killed early Sunday. The incident happened just west of Kennedy Rd., around 2:15 a.m. The busy highway was closed for several hours while police investigated.
