A release date for the dark fantasy film Damsel has finally been announced by Netflix[2].
Millie Bobby Brown[3], 19, stars as Princess Elodie in the movie which will land on the streaming platform on March 8 2024.
Damsel was supposed to have been released in October 2023 but was pushed back due to delays in production caused by not only the actors’ work stoppage, but the recently settled writers strike.
In terms of the plot, after agreeing to marry a handsome prince Elodie learns that the arranged marriage is actually more of a sacrifice by the royal family[4].
Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.

New teaser key art was also released on Wednesday as well as the release date which was an eerie shot of her eye and in the reflection you can see a dangerous dragon circling.
Another new shot shows her battered and bruised as she walks through the cave.
The trailer was released last month and was set to Timbre Timbre’s 2014 song Run From Me.
It begins with Elodie running through the woods in a glamorous gold gown clearly not meant for running.
She creeps around the woods, as we hear guttural sounds of a beast nearby, as its tail is seen whipping by.
Elodie is seen crawling through a dark tunnel with only a lit-up locket to guide her way.
Later she’s seen ripping strands of fabric off her dress as she’s seen climbing up a treacherous cave, only to find an opening that is hundreds of feet above the Earth.
‘Welcome, Princess,’ an ominous female voice is heard saying, as we next get a glimpse of the royal family including Queen Isabelle (Robin Wright), her King husband (Ray Winstone) and Prince Henry (Nick Robinson).

Isabelle says, ‘For generations, it has been our task to protect our people,’ as we see several citizens all wearing a gold mask to obscure their faces.
Isabelle continues, ‘So tonight, you join a long line of women who have helped to build this kingdom.’
As Elodie enters a cave, he sees the names of several of these women, all etched into the walls of this cave.
The trailer also offers a look at Shohreh Aghdashloo’s unspecified character, as Isabelle adds, ‘The price is dear,’ as we see Elodie fighting for her life.
‘… but so too the reward,’ Isabelle concludes, as a fierce Elodie picks up her sword and gets ready for battle as the trailer comes to an end.
The director is Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
Brown will also return for a third Enola Holmes film on Netflix, where she plays the little sister of detective Sherlock Holmes, played by Henry Cavill.
The action franchise follows a smart and resourceful teenage girl who wants to flout Victorian society and solve her own cases.
Netflix Head of Film Scott Stuber told the outlet, ‘The Holmes IP is weirdly elastic.’
