Benfleet Road has been closed by Essex Police near the rear entrance to King John School after a crash, according to Castle Point MP Rebecca Harris.

She says a large amount of "dangerous debris" is in the road, with traffic being diverted onto the A13 via Shipwrights Drive and Hadleigh Park Avenue. The Conservative MP said: "The police have shut Benfleet Road by the rear entrance to King John School due to an accident. "Luckily I understand no-one was seriously hurt but there is a large amount of dangerous debris on the road .

"Traffic is being diverted onto the A13 via Shipwrights Drive and Hadleigh Park Avenue.

"Please use alternate routes and expect delays until the police can clear the scene."
