Dragon knife discovered in New Forest youth shelter

The intimidating blade was handed in to officers after being found at the shelter, near the Horrill Centre for adult day care in Challenger Place, Dibden Purlieu. Although knife crime[1] is low in the area, officers will still be working proactively to prevent and deter knife crime[2], police said. The force shared the finding in a post on Waterside Police’s Facebook page.

The post said: “If you own knives that you need to get rid of, please feel free to keep an eye out on this page for when we are taking our knife surrender bin out and about. “Knives are hazardous in a bin and if improperly dumped somewhere, they could then fall into the wrong hands.” He added: “If you have concerns regarding someone you believe to be carrying a knife, then please let us know, or contact CrimeStoppers.

“We will continue to try and robustly deal with knife carriers, utilising stop and searches and arrest powers, but this can’t be done without the support of the community telling us the information they have.”
