Dramatic lightning strike caught on camera in Leeds amid thunder and hailstorms brought on by Storm Gerrit

This is the dramatic moment a huge lightning strike lit up the sky in part of Leeds. The thunder and lightning comes as Storm Gerrit[1] has battered the country today with yellow weather warnings[2] issued for heavy rain, strong winds and in some places, even snow. The stormy conditions have caused travel disruption, destruction and even the loss of three lives.

Met Office issued the warning until 3am on Thursday (December 28) with alerts for high winds which could potentially cause transport delays, damage and power loss. But, the aftermath of the storm has brought thunder and lightning to Leeds.[3] One man, James Cook, caught the moment thunder and lightning lit up the skies above Morley Bottoms.

He shared the video online.
