Driver trapped in car as road closed in both directions

A driver had to be cut out of their car after a crash in Daresbury. Fire crews from Warrington[1] and Lymm were called to the A56 Chester Road at 7.37pm tonight, December 26, following a two-car crash at the junction at Hobb Lane. On its Facebook[2] Page Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “Firefighters are on the scene of a road traffic collision on the A56 Chester Road, at the junction of Hobb Lane in Daresbury.

Please expect disruption to local road network while the incident is dealt with.” The road was closed in both directions as firefighters worked to remove the roof of one of the vehicles and free the trapped driver, who was handed over to the care of attending paramedics. Crews began leaving the scene at 9.30pm, a spokesman for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

No further information was provided on the other vehicle and its occupants. The extent of the injuries of those involved is not yet known. It is not known whether any arrests were made at the scene.

The North West Ambulance Service and Cheshire Police were approached for comment.
