Driver who was caught on video ignoring motorway signage tried to deny it

They were witnessed by police, who followed the car for more than a mile before bringing it to a stop at junction 32 of the M6, near Preston.

The driver tried to deny what they had done but police caught the incident on video. The incident happened in the early hours of this morning (December 8), shortly after midnight. A police spokesperson said: "Driver of this vehicle was witnessed by a marked patrol to contravene a red X on M6 northbound just prior to junction 32.

"This was despite over a mile of advance warning of lane closure ahead, which were ignored. "When stopped, the driver tried to deny it. The video never lies.
