E-scooter rider seriously injured in hit-and-run in Leicester

A man riding an electric scooter was seriously injured after colliding with a car in Leicester in the early hours of today, December 13. The car, a black Mercedes C220, failed to stop at the scene. The incident, in Guilford Road, Stoneygate[1], close to the junction with the was reported to police at 1.21am.[2] The scooter rider was travelling towards Oadby when he was hit by the car.

Leicestershire Police said the man, who has not been identified sustained “serious leg injuries” and remains in hospital. He was travelling to Oadby[3] at the time of the crash. Officers are now appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The force said in a statement: We would like to speak to anyone who may have been in the area between 1am and 1.20am and saw either the rider or a black Mercedes C220 car. “Alternatively, if you witnessed this collision or have any dashcam footage please get in touch.” Anyone with information can contact the force quoting 23*764275 by calling 10.
