East Hanney fatal crash tributes for woman named Jean
The fatal crash, which involved a red Mini Cooper and a white Peugeot 208, occurred between East Hanney and Frilford on the A338 at around 11.15am. The woman has been named locally as Jean, although this has not been confirmed by Thames Valley Police at this stage[1]. One tribute, which came from Tasha Simmonds, said: “Rest in peace auntie Jean, our hearts are broken.
Sleep tight.” Another, from Maria Webb, said: “Rest in peace, Jeanie.” Many of those commenting were offering their condolences to Ms Simmonds, with messages including “thoughts, love and hugs to you all” and “I am so sorry for your loss”.
The other driver involved in the crash, a man in his 30s, suffered life-changing injuries and remains in hospital, Thames Valley Police said. A man in his 50s, who was a passenger in the Mini, suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital but has since been discharged. Others who were present at the scene of the crash have commented on what they saw.
Eyewitness Debb Simeone said: “I’ve been thinking about this since coming across the awful scene. I’d hoped and prayed that all would be Ok. “I’m so very sorry to hear this sad, sad news.
My thoughts are with all affected.” Another eyewitness Lucy Langdon added: “My heart goes out to all the families.” Tributes have poured in for a woman killed in a Christmas Day crash (Image: D&C Police)Vice chairman of East Hanney Parish Council Paul Aram remarked that this was an extremely unfortunate incident, and stated that the road isn’t an area known to be dangerous.
He said: “This is very shocking. Our thoughts are with the friends and family of all involved.” The road was closed between the A415 and A417 for several hours while the crash was dealt with.
Investigating officer detective constable Nigel Doyle, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Tragically, a woman has died and a man has suffered life-changing injuries following this collision on Christmas Day; our condolences and thoughts are with their loved ones. The A338 in East Hanney “I am appealing for anyone that witnessed the collision, or saw the cars involved prior to it, to contact us.
“We would also ask any drivers with a dash-camera who were in the area at the time to check their recordings and let us know if it has captured anything that could help our investigation. “You can send footage to us directly via this dedicated online portal.” The deceased woman’s next of kin have been informed and specially trained officers are supporting them.
