Edinburgh emergency services race to blaze at George Street shop
A fire in Edinburgh’s city centre[1] saw emergency services race to the scene on Friday morning. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service[2] were alerted to the blaze just after 9am. They arrived to find a fire[3] within a commercial premises on George Street, located close to an underground substation.
Crews worked to extinguish the fire, and have since left after ensuring the area was safe. Officers confirmed there were no casualties.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.06am on Friday, 22 December to reports of a fire within a commercial premises in Edinburgh.

“Operations Control mobilised four appliances to the city’s George Street, where firefighters were met by a fire located close to an underground substation.
“Crews extinguished the fire and worked to make the area safe before leaving the scene.
There were no casualties.”
