Essex Police called to ‘avoidable’ M25 aquaplane crashes

Police said they were called to several "completely avoidable" road traffic collisions on Saturday involving vehicles that had aquaplaned. Essex Roads Policing[1] said "numerous" drivers had crashed on the M25 as a result of "not reducing speed in heavy rain and with obvious standing water". One incident involving a white Mercedes saw the motorway closed for 30 minutes between junctions 26 and 27.

Its five occupants were stranded by the central reservation as police arrived. The force also shared motorway safety[2] information to remind road users what to do in an emergency. Follow East of England news on Facebook, Instagram and X.
