Family pay tribute to Corwen man killed in Llangollen crash

John Michael Thomas, fondly known as Mike, was 29 years old, and lived in the Corwen area. Officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash shortly after 6.30pm on December 2, which involved a motorcycle and a Vauxhall Insignia. Mr Thomas’ family described him as a “loving and funny character”, whose death has left “such a big hole in so many people’s hearts”.

A statement from his family read: “Mike has left a hole in everyone’s hearts, as a family, community and friends group. “We will never forget how much of a loving and funny character Mike was. “He would make everyone laugh and be happy on a down day, would do anything for anyone and would not expect anything in return.

“We can say that Mike had lived his life enjoying the things he loved – going out on his bike with his friends and spending time with his family. That’s what made him happy. “He would never let anyone feel left out, and that was just part of his personality.

“Coming down the path and through the door would light up everyone’s day, and especially the three beeps whilst he went down the road. “Mike was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will never, ever be forgotten, and we will keep his memory going, as he has left such a big hole in so many people’s hearts.”

North Wales Police is continuing to appeal to anybody who may have information that could assist with its ongoing investigation to contact the force. Sergeant Emlyn Hughes, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, added: “Our profound sympathies remain with Mr Thomas’ family and friends at this difficult time. “We can confirm we’re not looking for anybody else in connection with this collision, however we continue to urge anybody who may have been travelling along the A539 and who may have dashcam footage to contact us.”
