Fiery crash on M-39 in Detroit being investigated as homicide

DETROIT – Michigan State Police troopers are investigating a fatal crash Friday, Dec.

15, as a homicide.

According to authorities[1], between 11:45 p.m. and midnight, the driver of a truck lost control of their vehicle on the Southfield Freeway[2] near Plymouth Road, struck another vehicle, drove up an embankment, struck a concrete wall and rolled back down onto the freeway, where it caught fire.

The driver, a 49-year-old man from Detroit, was ejected when the vehicle struck the concrete wall.

He died at the scene.

Police said they noticed a bullet hole in the truck bed and found several shell casings in the area.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a hospital to be treated for their injuries.

They are expected to be OK.

There is no information regarding the shooter or shooters, or the vehicle they were in.
