Flood alert issued for Chester as residents warned to ‘be prepared’
A flood alert has been issued for Chester and villages along the River Dee, with residents warned to ‘be prepared’. The Environment Agency issued the warning after 10am today. The alert covers riverside communities from Chester[1] to Whitchurch, including Shocklach, Farndon, Handley, Lower Kinnerton and Puddington.
Townfield Lane, Farndon, remains cut off. The Environment Agency said river levels remain high following rainfall in recent days. The Met Office is predicting a dry weekend for the city.
In Chester, Sealand[2] Road and surrounding area, Chester Meadows, Chester Golf Club and the Racecourse are all subject to the alert, as Countess Country Park, Water Tower Gardens and the Groves. Areas of Lache[5], Tilston and Tattenhall[6] are also under the alert. In a statement, the Environment Agency said: “River levels are high on the River Dee due to the rainfall we have had over the last few days. “River levels will continue to remain high over the next few days and Townfield Lane is likely to remain cut off.
We are closely monitoring the situation.”

- You should avoid walking, cycling or driving through flood water.
