Four-year-old found in street in middle of night

A four-year-old girl was reunited with her mother after going missing in the middle of the night.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to an address in the Meir area of Stoke-on-Trent at 04:00 on Tuesday, following reports of concerns about a child's welfare.

Police said the girl had been spotted in the street and spoken to by members of the public who were concerned about her.

Officers were able to identify her mother, and West Midlands Ambulance Service said she was assessed at the scene and taken to hospital for further treatment.
